Marble is one of most ancient and beautiful of stones. The word ‘marmo’ derives from the Greek name “Marmaros”, which means “shining stone“. It was already appreciated in ancient times, by the Greeks and Romans for its glossy and luminous appearance, and even earlier by the Mesopotamians, who decided to build their most important buildings out of marble, as the resulting stone is simply beautiful and extremely long-lasting. Marble is still widely used today in the building industry, and greatly appreciated as a material for furnishings, for the particular way in which it reflects light, becoming clear and translucent. Marble wall cladding, stairs and flooring are sought after to this day. Marble is a veined stone that comes in a variety of colours and tones, always different and unpredictable, making it unique and valuable.
